Our South Ockendon club is taught by Sensei Lauren Wright 3rd Dan.
Lauren has been practising Goju-Kai Karate for over 24 years, since her dad Mark first started our club and made her his first student.
In 2016 she obtained her 3rd Dan black belt grade and began teaching classes in South Ockendon in the same year.
Lauren has competed for almost two decades, winning her first English title at the age of 12, followed by her first world title at the Goju-Kai World Championships at age 14. Since then Lauren has gone on to represent England in the overall England Karate team, and won various other English, British and European titles, along with further Goju-Kai World Championships in 2009 and 2013.
Her latest success has come at the 7th Goju-Kai World Championships in Canada in September 2017 where she won a gold medal in kumite and bronze medals in kata and bunkai.
Lauren was able to begin teaching full time at the start of 2017 after her classes proved to be successful. She has also been able to add advanced competition specific classes to her timetable utilising her extensive competitive background.
